IAVCEI Commission on Tephra Hazard Modelling

FIRST MEETING (14-20 July 2003)

The first meeting of the tephra-fall hazard working group took place during the Cities on Volcano 3 conference in Hilo (Hawaii).

The discussion during this first meeting focused on:

1)    personal approach and experience on tephra-fall hazard;

2)    description of the crucial points of the tephra dispersal code used;

3)    description of the inputs and outputs of different codes;

4)    results and application to real cases;

5)    database used to calibrate codes;

6)    strategies for general use of hazard codes.
